Speaking of Speech

Hey Eagles! How is everyone doing tonight? It's been awhile since my last blog. Sorry about that. It has just been really busy at NCCU lately. Midterms are approaching fast. When my professors keep talking about it, I get nauseated, no joke. It's okay though. I think once my nerves settle, studying will be fine. Also, I think my new favorite class this semester is definitely speech class with Professor Forte. First off, Professor Forte makes the classroom enjoyable to be in. Usually, professors make the classroom about them. Professor Forte makes the classroom alive, even if she is having a bad day, she always makes the class smile. Second, when you present something to the class, it never seems bad. This past Wednesday, I did my first major speech for the class. The speech was supposed to teach the class how to do something. I chose to share a little bit my Filipino heritage with them. When I first chose this topic I was really amped to show off my skills, but a few days before the actual speech, I kind of got nervous. What if I messed up, or what if everyone thought that it was stupid? All those things and more were running through my mind. So when Wednesday finally came around, I just took a deep breath and did it. What Professor Forte helped me stay calm by reading a littl phrase from a book she was reading. That one little phrase really set the tone for me. It helped me calm my nerves and get everything into perspective. If I had to pick one class and professor that I think really helped me grow as a student and as an invidual, it is Speech with Professor Minnie Forte. Hopefully when I find out my grade tomorrow, it will be a good grade. Well Eagles, that is all I have for you tonight. I hope you guys stay safe and remember to always fly high. This is Asian Eagle and I am out!

Cold Weather, Snow and everything in between

Burrr!!! Hey eagles! How is everyone flying today? This is Asian Eagle reporting back from the nest. I hope everyone is staying warm in this weather we are having. I know I have found it fairly difficult at times to stay warm. The wind has definetly made walking around campus somewhat difficult. One good thing about this weather snow is that classes have been delayed for the past few days now. However, I don't know if that is technicaly a good thing or a bad thing. Also, on Monday after Central's 4 hour delay, I went to my math class. There was only like seven of us who had actually braved the rough roads. For that our teacher said she would give us some extra credit for coming. Oh I was so happy I came to class. I wish I could get extra for just coming to class everyday. On Tuesday, it was a whole different story. I had forgotten my wallet at home, so I had to come back. After getting my wallet, I attempted to get out of my driveway with my dad's 4-runner. OH MY GOODNESS!!!! It was so difficult to get up the driveway that I thought maybe I shouldn't go to school. But after so many manuveres, I finally got out and headed to Central. Parking, however, was not so fun. I almost got stuck again, and I was thinking that this really was not my day. But I perservered and got through it. Well, hopfully tomorrow will be a better day to drive. I hope all of you guys stay safe. And remember to always fly high. Have a good night everyone! This Asian Eagle and I am out!
